Faronics Deep Freeze
Fran and her team have chosen to use Deep Freeze because it provides the system consistency they require to significantly reduce their support headaches. To facilitate the task of managing their Deep Freeze deployment, they've decided to utilize Faronics Core. All the workstation information they need is easily viewed in Core Console and they've grouped all their
workstations by department for easier management.
Faronics Core allows Fran's team to centrally perform or schedule Deep Freeze tasks on any number of workstations. They're able to remotely Freeze and Thaw workstations, schedule Thaws to coincide with software updates and additions, shut them down, and wake them up via Wake-On-LAN. Because of Core's Active Task feature, the team knows that all configuration changes will be applied to a workstation, regardless of whether the affected computers are currently available or not – tasks remain active until a target workstation is available.
Utilizing the status columns in Core Console, they can easily check the real-time Deep Freeze protection status across their entire deployment.
Faronics Power Save
Recently John's company adopted a vigorous green initiative aimed at reducing waste as well as saving money where possible. As the head of the IT department, he was put in charge of lowering the energy costs and waste of the organization's IT systems. This led him to choose Power Save for its intelligent PC power management capabilities. With a large number of workstations of various types spread across the organization, being able to manage their Power Save deployment via Faronics Core was key. All the workstation information they need is easily viewed in Core Console and they've grouped all their workstations by department for easier management.
Faronics Core allows John's team to remotely perform or schedule any Power Save tasks on any number of workstations. They're able to put the computers to sleep, shut them down and wake them up via Wake-On-Lan. Because of the Core's Active Task feature, the team knows that all configuration changes will applied to a workstation, regardless of whether the affected computers are currently unavailable or not – tasks remain active until a target workstation is available.
Using the Faronics Core reporting ability, John's team regularly outputs detailed energy savings reports that allow them to track overall savings of all their Mac OS X and Windows-based computers as compared to their initial baselines. They also appreciate seeing the equivalent environmental benefits in the savings reports. Utilizing Core's ability to create Multiple Power Plans and Policies, they've implemented customized levels of energy management which are applied to best suit their organization's usage patterns.
With the company's upcoming expansion, the next step will be to set up multiple Core Consoles so that each department can monitor and manage their own power savings. The Core's scalable architecture will make this process a breeze.
Faronics Anti-Executable
As the group in charge of the company's IT security, Evelyn, a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and her team have adopted a layered security strategy combining firewalls, anti-virus and the robust protection of Anti-Executable's application whitelisting technology. With a large number of workstations to keep secure, they have appreciated how they can manage their Anti-Executable deployment via Faronics Core. All the workstation information they need is easily viewed in Core Console and they've grouped all their workstations by department for easier management.
Evelyn's team can remotely perform or schedule any Anti-Executable tasks on any number of workstations. They're able to turn on/off whitelisting protection, put the computers into Maintenance Mode so that software updates and installation of new software can be easily applied, export/import whitelists, and remotely scan any managed workstation(s) to create unique whitelists. Because of Core's Active Task feature, the team knows that all configuration changes will be applied to a workstation, regardless of whether the affected computers are currently available or not – tasks remain active until a target workstation is available.
Using the Faronics Core reporting ability, Evelyn's team regularly exports log records of violation attempts that allow them to track what executables have been blocked, which user was active during the attempt, and when the violation occurred.
Because they also have Faronics Deep Freeze deployed, they're also very pleased that Anti-Executable automatically enters Maintenance Mode when it detects that a Deep Freeze Maintenance Event has Thawed the computer and applies any added applications to the workstation's whitelist.
With the recent acquisition of an overseas subsidiary in a region of high PC malware activity, the need to maintain corporate network integrity makes Faronics Anti-Executable an obvious choice. The next step will be to use Core's scalable architecture to set up multiple Core Consoles so that the new location can monitor and manage their own layered security.
Faronics WINSelect
WINSelect has provided Peter and his team with an easy way to standardize his users' environments without the complexity of Group Policy Objects. To further simplify this process they are managing their WINSelect deployment with Faronics Core. All the workstation information they need is easily viewed in Core Console and they've grouped all their
workstations by department for easier management.
Faronics Core allows Peter's team to centrally perform or schedule any WINSelect tasks on any number of workstations. They're able to remotely lockdown their workstations via customized templates, set restriction times and levels, apply configuration changes without the user having to logoff, and remotely scan a computer and select the programs which are allowed and not allowed to run. Because of Core's Active Task feature, the team knows that all configuration changes will be applied to a workstation, regardless of whether the affected computers are currently available or not – tasks remain active until a target workstation is available.
Faronics Core allows Peter's team to monitor and control workstations that have been set in "Kiosk Mode" and configure User Session settings to enforce time limits on workstation usage. Using the Faronics Core's Active Directory integration, the team can also import ADM templates to control any Microsoft product as well as import Microsoft Vista GPO's to control workstation functions.
With the organization's upcoming expansion, the next step will be to set up multiple Core Consoles so that each department can monitor and manage their own user controls. Core's scalable architecture will make this process a breeze.
